High Tech sushi in Japan
When we think about Japan, we think about technology and sushi. Japan's robot technology is so advanced that their robots look like human... well almost..
And one of the signature food in Japan is sushi, also one of my favourite food. I can eat half an kilo of it and not getting bored of.
There's a new trend of sushi started off in sushi's origin place, Japan. For those who likes high tech and sushi, this is an experience you might not want to missed when you visit Japan.
High-tech sushi (not sure if official name) is a new way running a modern japanese sushi restaurant contrast to the famous Kai-ten sushi( conveyor belt). In our previous post about sushi we mentioned about how magnetic tag was used to ensure its freshness.
But no matter how it is ensured, outside Japan we often stereotyped that sushi on belt is not fresh. Hence we seldom want to take from the belt.
Rose and I visited Uobei sushi in Shibuya (2-29-11 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) which uses a new trend to serve a sushi... From far, it just looked like a ordinary sushi restaurant...
The new way of ordering sushi is also really popular with the Japanese, we have to queue for seats despite of the restaurant already equipped with quite a lot of seats...
Inside the entrance...
Waiting for our turn...
Finally our turn!
The seats are closely packed. Maximizing the use of space which is an advantage of opening a business in metropolitan Tokyo where space is scarce...
Japanese uncle looking at the menu...
And orders...
The choices are so much that it will makes us not sure what to order...
A video showing how the order is served...
Even the green tea is do-it-yourself... makes me think of the green tea I had in Kuching are as thin as water...
Immediately we start order frenzy...
Miso soup and Chawanmushi (steam egg)
Salmon sushi...
Unagi sushi...
Fatty salmon
Yellow tail
Tuna with garlic
Fatty Tuna
they also have something else other than sushi...
even dessert can be ordered from the screen...
they even have hamburger sushi...
and the feeding(me) frenzy continues...
they say this is a must try food in japan... sea urchin...
spicy tuna
seasonal fish(forgot name)...
snow crab
with spending over 1050 yen, you can play games to win prizes...
feel so weird to order sausage in a sushi restaurant

Have you been to high tech sushi?
Left: what you fantasize how humanoid looked like;
right: what actual humanoid looked like
me and my usual dream
But what if Technology meets sushi? There's a new trend of sushi started off in sushi's origin place, Japan. For those who likes high tech and sushi, this is an experience you might not want to missed when you visit Japan.

Looked like electronic waffle assembly line?
There are touch screens in front of each seats where customer uses that to order food. The food order is sent electronically to the kitchen and deliver to the customer. This way, the restaurant can minimizes the food wastage and ensure the sushi that customers are getting are the freshest.Japanese uncle looking at the menu...

For a high tech sushi restaurant, the price of the sushi was surprisingly low. With over 80 kinds of sushi priced at 105 yen, now not to be happy for a sushi lover like me...
