Satu Malaysia Shop Shopping Experience
"The good old days where things are cheap is over" they said. Thanks to inflation, poor weather, and many other factors that the economist can come out, things are not as cheap as it used to be.
To bring greater benefit to the needy ones, the Malaysia government rolls out the cheap till you drop grocery shop, crowned to be the poor's savior. It is called the SATU MALAYSIA SHOP.
In there you can find things which is really cheaper than things you find in ordinary supermarket. The basic of how it works is simple, they deal directly to the factory, bypassing the distributor and thus the lower price. Some people says it is not fair to the distributor on the market as only certain group of people are allowed to operate the satu malaysia shop.
Fair or not fair, I had a chance to shop in one of the outlet in Sarawak, Malaysia. It s located in Samarahan, as shown in the map below:
The exterior of the shop:
Things they sell in satu malaysia shop:
"number 1 juice" :
Number 1 but grade D egg... who cares? it is cheap :D
You need to zoom hard in order to discover that these in fact, is crackers:
Traditional malay clothing accessories:
Cocoa powder which looked similar to many of other stuff in the shop:
And apart from all the confusing house brand packed in similar packaging which might made me mixed the washing powder with cocoa powder, possibly making my cloth into chocolate and sending me into hospital, they do sell other brand of groceries:
As a regular coffee drinker, I must say their coffee is very cheap compare to outside. A normally RM 1.90 canned coffee sells about rm 1.5 over there...
Things I have bought during the short shopping:
So, hopefully it can change the face when paying the bill from this:
Typical face when see the total bill at supermarket outlet, or when eating an invisible muffin
